Project Description
The surveying and mapping for the Manville Flood Control Study incorporated the efforts of three survey companies - DeBruin Geomatics, LS, PE, PC, Gahagan and Bryant Associates (GBA) , and Geomaps International (Geomaps). The study was to address the flooding problems of the town of Manville by surveying the areas of Millstone River, Raritan River, and Royce Brook located in Somerset County, central New Jersey. DeBruin's responsibility in the study involved setting up horizontal and vertical control throughout the entire job limits. There was topographic surveying along with cross-sections for 14 bridges, 4 weirs, and 115 open channels. We also performed a flood mark survey at specific locations supplied by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. DeBruin mapped all utilities within the stated scope of work at a required acuraccy within 0.1 ft vertically. This data was used to create a hydraulic model of the Manville area in hopes to solve its flooding problems.
